Volunteers are the heart and soul of The SEED.
Our movement is powered by hundreds of amazing volunteers. Every day you can find us in the kitchen, in the warehouse, driving deliveries, on the phone with our customers, and helping to grow food for our programs.
See below for current opportunities!
Warehouse & Packing volunteers work together as a team to accurately pick and pack fresh food and frozen meals into customized baskets for delivery. This role is a great fit for someone looking for an in-person role, working with other volunteers, and pays attention to detail.
Please note: There is a physical element to this role, and long periods of standing. Some items are heavy or awkward to lift. For example, a bag of potatoes and a full basket of food.
The SEED Markets are a weekly affordable fresh food market, aimed at increasing the accessibility (both physical and financial) of good food for everyone in Guelph.
Our items are priced on a sliding scale, you pay whatever feels right for you within the range listed. Everyone is always welcome! Paying the higher end of the scale subsidizes the cost for others in our community who benefit from the lower end of the scale. By shopping at the market, you are directly contributing to an equity-based food system.
Each neighborhood in Guelph is unique, and the organizations that serve these neighborhoods know them the best. We partner with and deliver to the Emergency Food Providers of Guelph to help maximize the good food they can offer and reinforce the good work being done already. We also distribute to schools in Guelph and Wellington County, delivering food for healthy lunch/snack programs for elementary school children. We offer a high-quality service that decreases the amount of time spent shopping, decreases the cost of fruits and veggies, and increases the amount and quality of food in our community.
